Through Romania
Day 10 – 551 kms (3418 total)
Set off at 7.30 (though now we realise the time changed and it was 8.30)

Rode east to Cluj which welcomes you with great grey communist apartment blocks. We crept through traffic into the old town, but found no place to stop and look, so carried on through.
We turned off the main road at Apahide and took a fabulous back road with no traffic on it that wound through the countryside and apart from its deterioration later on, was a good change from the main lorry ridden road.
We stopped at Reghin for breakfast/lunch and then carried on to Iasi.
The calibre of road bears no relation to its colour on the map. Some main roads are dire, some back roads are fabulously surfaced. Lots more dogs, horses and cows wandering in the roads… keep yer eyes skinned!
We reached Iasi, but could find no digs, or signpost for a way out. So we ended up following a road south and stopped the night in a very expensive hotel in Husi, because it was late, we’d been on the road 11 hours and we didn’t care.
