Jarkent
Day 29 & 30 – Zero kms.

Arriving in Jarkent, a local restaurant, tried to entice us in but then guided us to the Hotel Asia, which only costs 2000 a night (plus 200 parking) but beds are crap and shower is a tap (though it is en-suite) and no hot water.
Back to the restaurant for lots of good food for 2100. Now just need to hang around here until Monday.

There is however, an Internet place, so we will be able to upload more photos, (speed permitting), to the Trip Gallery for you all to peruse. The “Trip Gallery” can be seen by clicking the camera icon on the right hand side of the main page, above the “Recent Links” column or at the bottom right of each article.
One night in the Hotel Asia is ample. People wandering up & down the corridor all night & beds that were impossible to sleep on.
We left in the morning and went around the corner to the Hotel Atlantic. Vastly better facilities without a vastly bigger bill.
The cook was catering for a large lunchtime party, and treated us to a free meal of rice and meat.

With plenty of time to kill, we unloaded our kit & found a car wash. Here we spent 2 hours watching the bikes being cleaned, sort of, by a couple of women.
One of them took a shine to Mick so he gave a false address. She could not have been too bright because there were only TWO hotels in the town and she didn’t find us!
We spent the evening in the hotel and were kindly woken at around 3am by the local mosque, accompanied by the yapping of the local dogs. This chorus then continued for a couple of hours as all the other dogs joined in.

All the dogs are now sleeping soundly, probably preparing themselves for another nights entertainment.
