New Toys for the Bike

I have started to modify or add to, parts of the bike.
The first thing fitted was Wilbers progressive front springs. This together with 15w fork oil made them feel much better, but still not great.

Next came the rear shocker. Also from Wilbers. I had been speaking to Dirk of Wilbers USA and placed the order through him.
This unit has made a real difference to the rear end. It’s arse is now pert as opposed to the saggy thing it was before.
The bike is now sitting at the correct hight ride hight, (sag), so instead of being bent knee’d with both feet on the ground, it’s now straight knees.

When ordering the shock, apart from the bike its for, you specify your weight, expected luggage weight, with pillion or not, expected road types and ridng style.

Obviously, some of these will be a compromise, but they set the shock to your requirements and give you the settings for damping/loading etc. so you have a reference point and can play from there.

Fitting the damper unit was a breeze. Fitting the remote adjuster was also easy once I had decided where it would be located.
On the rear of the rear carrier. Two rubber mounts and two stainless ring clamps are provided for the purpose.

New tyres have been fitted. I chose Continental TKC 80’s – also known as “Twinduro’s”
They are a little different to road biased tyres!
