New boots - the panties will come later

This trip is going to require a lot of compromises, and the selection of the gear we take is no exception.

Riding boots are one of the things that must fulfil a range of requirements. To be cool – as in temperature, and if they are also cool looking, that’s a bonus! – fit for the purpose, as in strong with a good level of comfort and to double as walking boots for the odd off-bike excursion without crippling you. Waterproof would also be good.

Not too many of the motorcycle boots fit that brief and after much searching and reading other peoples opinions, I have settled on the Alt-Berg High Bandog Desert Boot. Bit of a mouthful, but a lovely bit of kit.
They have one failing. They are not waterproof. However, a set of rubber over boots will solve that while we are in any cold and wet places and by the time we get to the tropics, who cares? Warm and wet is OK!

They are comfortable from the first time you put them on. They seem to be put together very well with good details like the lacing break to allow the boot to bend at the ankle more easily.

The suede will probably take a beating during the trip but they weren’t bought as parade shoes.
