When John got himself the Arai, it seemed like a good idea to go down the same route, but having tried one on, it was immediately clear that I wasn’t going to be wearing an Aria.
I heard people say, you either have an Aria head or a Shoei head, and ne’er the twain shall meet. Well it’s a fact that I have a Shoei head. Absolutely no doubt, but look on the Shoei website and there is no equivalent to the Arai XD….yet rumour has it there is such a thing. So after much surfing, I finally tracked down the Shoei HORNET through www.webbikeworld.com. A good review on it and I steamed in and ordered one from Japan at www.helmetpro.com
Paid the additional import duty on its arrival, it arrived a day later and lo and behold, it didn’t fit ! In fact it felt worse than the Aria !
Innit odd ? I wear the same make of crash helmet for years, buy my standard “Small” size and it doesn’t fit!
After trawling through forums I finally found the same complaint from a number of Hornet purchasers. Fortunately, one of these members was owner of a “medium” size (One up from me) when he needed a large, and thus I am now the proud owner of a new hat that fits.
