I'm Still Standing

Day 3 – 409 kms. (1499kms total)

A morning spent at Erics whilst he upgraded Mick’s side-stand to add an additional inch to the height. It makes such a difference and though another centimetre would have been ideal, its just the ticket.
We then spent our time trying to sort out a place to receive John’s Carnet de Passage, which has finally made its way through the system in France. This took much arranging at the French end and we pass on our grateful thanks to Janet for sorting out the Directeur of Post in Nontron to give Jayne – “Permission Exceptionel” to enter the delivery office, and to Heidi for phoning the main post office in Passau to confirm all their details.

When we finally left , we headed east with a tentative plan to get to Passau and see what would evolve with delivery of the Carnet. Not a huge distance to travel, but the weather was baking and around 30 degrees all day, the bike engines pumping out heat, we were sweating buckets for most of the 400km.
We finally made Passau and used the GPS to find us decent digs at the Edlhof Gasthaus for 25 euro a night (inc. brekkie).

Day 4 – TUESDAY 22nd:
A trip to the Post office this morning, proved fruitless – no carnet received. We bought a few necessities, like more drugs for Johns cold and a notebook for me and then we headed back to book another night at Edlhof.
Leaving all our kit there, we headed back into Passau to be “tourists” and as the sun disappeared behind big clouds. We decided to utilise the facilities of an internet cafe for uploading pics to the gallery and this blog entry. Alas, I lack the right card reader, so have had to re-enter all yesterdays text that I had written on the PDA.
