Day 7 – 190 kms (1979 total)

I now have the Carnet in my hot little hand, Yippee!

Jayne phoned me this am and told me the delivery status was “address unknown – not deliverable”. Just great!
Back to the post office where I found Lorenz Seidl who turned out to be an absolute star! This package was never in the German postal system so other than providing the delivery address, the Deutsche Post has had nothing out of it.

Lorenz spent over an hour on the phone, calling all possible carriers and eventually found it at TNT in Steinach near Straubing. He got the people there to sit on it while we drove the 80kms to get it. Many thanks Lorenz!
Passau Dom
It seems that TNT don’t know the address of the Passau main post office and no one there was bright enough to phone Deutsche Post and enquire.

Its been a very hot day and we are two very sweaty people.

Now its Micks turn. His front brake calliper is leaking…
We have sourced a new one from Andreas of Spiegler Bremstechnik in Freiburg and they are going to DHL it to Russia for us – can’t be any worse than TNT… can it?

That’s it. Off for a lot of biers and grub.

The next installment is here

Hi. Watching with interest, and a certain amount of envy! Still Deb and myself are off to the Isle of Man for TT! So I’ll catch up with progress in a coupleof weeks. Have a good one, cheers John

I think that we should start a ‘no-no Xmas card list’ and I think that the first name on the list should be Chronopost. Let us hope that the list is a short one!!
