Wet and windy

Day 9 – 493 kms (2867 total)

Dogs were barking throughout the night and awoke us at 6 in the morning. We left the hotel early and traveled the Slovak hills in occasional rain to Hungary.

The roads became worse but weather improved for a while.
Lots of dead things in the road. Most appear to be dogs but some look bigger!
Wetlands, Hungary
After Eger, the land flattened and then developed into marshlands. Here, we got caught in a most horrendous storm. All we could do was stop beside the road and wait it out while the rain rained and the wind lashed it about. Talk about wet!

Reached Romania and headed east through the industrial area of Oradea and onto the hills. We stopped at a tourist spot in the valley and found refuge just before the next Transylvanian storm deposited its load.
Got stitched up as tourists and paid 50 euro for food and beds.

The next installment is here
