The old BMW GS models have what is probably the worst side stand I have ever come across.

Very un “Germanic” in it’s design and application. You need to be 7 foot tall with 3 legs and then its would be a breeze.

So, a solution was sought and found at Overland Solutions in Sheppy. (see the “links” page)

Ernie is the man there and provided the perfect answer. Fitted in a few hours, along with a modified gear lever.

Yippee, it works!

It’s that good that after 2 days of use, I no longer think about it.
You do loose the auto retraction feature – which is great and there is no “idiot” cut out to stop you driving off with the stand out.
How sad. I might have to be responsible for my own actions.

I spent a while searching for side stands and there appeared to be a few options available, but in the end, only the OS stand and the
bracket/adaptor available for the BMW stand were actually available. Most of the others seem to have ceased production.
