I stripped the carbs and found lumps of black goo in the main jet and other places so a complete clean was necessary.
If I lived in a place where there was normal civilisation, I would take it along to some shop and have it cleaned using ultrasonics. No chance of that here in the backwoods so I bought one of these ultrasound cleaners.




I thought maybe the small, (affordable), units might not be up to the job, but after soaking the carbs in paraffin for an hour or so to get rid of the oily dirt,


stripping them down as far as possible and chucking all the little bits in to cleaner for 30 minutes, they came out really clean. Same procedure for the slides, tops, body’s and bowls and the results are easy to see.
